illa By the Sea offers its guests more than a place to stay. With the Arabian Sea at your doorstep, you have uninterrupted access to golden sunsets, the sound of waves crashing, and coconut trees swaying in the coastal breeze.
Every element of the home has been thoughtfully crafted to enhance this experience. Moving away from cluttered design, the spaces embrace natural kota stone, lime textures, open courtyards filled with sunlight, and subtle details inspired by Udupi's culture.

The five rivers
Where five rivers meet the sea
illa By the Sea sits on the Udupi coast, where five rivers, Souparnika, Kubja, Kedaka, Swarna and Varahi, find their way to the Arabian Sea. Named after the Tulu word for home, illa draws inspiration from this landscape. Each of its five rooms carries the name of one of these rivers, with subtle details in the walls and floors tracing the contours of their journey.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is at 1 PM and check-out is at 11 AM. Early check-in is subject to availability.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, breakfast is included in the pricing and is served from 8 AM to 9:30 AM.
Do you serve lunch and dinner?
We do not provide lunch and dinner. Please feel free to order from Swiggy or Zomato.
Can we add an extra bed?
Yes. An extra bed with breakfast is available for INR 1,500 per night, subject to availability (the house has two). Message us on WhatsApp after booking and pay at the property.
How many guests can the villa host?
The villa's maximum capacity is 12 people.
Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed at the moment.
Can we visit for the day?
No day trips. Stays are booked on a per-night basis.
Is the sea safe for swimming?
The sea can be rough during the monsoon and at night. Swim at your own risk and responsibly. Please use the outdoor shower after swimming in the ocean and before entering the property.
How do we get around?
Rental cars, scooters and auto rickshaws are available. Just ask!
Before you book
Cancellation policy
Reservations are confirmed upon full payment. Guests will receive a full refund if the cancellation is made at least 7 days prior to check-in.
Visitors
Outside visitors are not permitted on the property.
Events and photography
To maintain the peaceful atmosphere, celebrations, gatherings, or professional photography must be approved in advance. Firecrackers are not permitted on the property.
Driver and staff accommodation
Accommodation for drivers, domestic staff, or personal attendants is not available on the property. Guests are welcome to book an additional room for them, subject to availability.
Guest identification
All guests are required to present a valid government-issued photo ID at check-in. Indian citizens must provide a government-issued ID card, while foreign nationals must provide a valid passport and visa.
Care of property
Guests are requested to treat the property, furnishings and amenities with care. Any damages caused during the stay may be subject to repair or replacement charges.
